Hi all

we recently got some cisco hardware from a company who closed down shop here in nigeria.

one of the device i the cisco air-ap3072i access point.

i found out i can only set it up via a hardware controller.

the firm we got them from did not supply any hardware controllers.

i curently manage a non cisco enviroment but was hoping i could find solution on how to set it up with or without the wireless controller. is there any mobility express software that can run on it so i can set it up on my network for wirelss users or must i have to purchase the wireless controller.

thank you for your quick response

Hi

You can use they as standalone or Mobility express. either way, you need to convert them, which means, you need to download software from cisco site.

This AP model does not support to be Master in the mobility express topology, so, you need at least on of this mode to act as WLC:

Cisco Aironet 1540 Series

Cisco Aironet 1560 Series

Cisco Aironet 1815i

Cisco Aironet 1815w

Cisco Aironet 1830 Series

Cisco Aironet 1850 Series

Cisco Aironet 2800 Series

Cisco Aironet 3800 Series

If you find 3702 Autonomous image (ap3g2-k9w7....) you should be able to convert this AP into standalone mode & use it. Refer below post on how can you do the conversion.

Here is another post on the conversion
