hi all,
was configuring this AP platform.
after AP boots up it got stuck on this line:
*Mar 1 00:03:09.978: %CDP_PD-4-POWER_OK: Full power - NON_CISCO-NO_CDP_RECEIVED inline power source
i always use secure CRT but when i changed to hypterterminal i got a console response.
could someone enlighten me why this AP works on hyperterm?

HI John,
Is this AP is connected to POE swicth???
Normal Power Draw: 12.95W
***When deployed using PoE, the power drawn from the power sourcing equipment will be higher by some amount dependent on the length of the interconnecting cable. This additional power may be as high as 2.45W, bringing the total system power draw (access point + cabling) to 15.4W.
your Error message indicates: This message indicates the access point is operating at full power because it has notreceived any CDP packets within the timeout period. This condition indicates your access point isconnected to a non-Cisco power source.
Regards

hi,
i used PoE at first and same thing happened and that's why i switched to AC power.
but using power cord shows the same problem. it hanged on the said line when using secure crt.
when i used hypterminal, i got a prompt and was able to manually configure the AP.

I use SecureCRT and never had that issue. It also can be an issue with the setting you have set in your serial. If you telnet or ssh to the AP, does it work? I would try a different USB to serial cable and or console cable and machine. Try to determine if one of those is causing the issue.

hi scott,
i've been using my console cable/adapter for many years configuring various cisco platforms and i haven't encountered any problems with it. even when i was setting up 1131 and 1242 APs via console.
it's just the SAP1602 gave me a rough time yesterday but eventually configured it via hyperterminal, which i haven't used for a long time now.
i just wonder what it was that didn't give me the console prompt in secure crt. not sure if there's any 'gotchas' with this AP platform.

Make sure your flow control is set to none. Secure CRT defaults to RTS/CTS being enabled
