Aironet 1242ag no longer working after software installation

wbatizvegas
Level 1
Level 1

We killed an aironet 1242AG access point - someone installed the LWAPP software and it

either got corrupted or the software itself changes the way the device functions dramatically.  In any

case we want to revert it back to the way it is supposed to be but the web browser interface no longer works and TFTP

doesn't seem to work either - We've tried a factory default reset but that doesn't do anything.

Here's an error we're seeing at boot:

this is what the prompt shows.... It's not the regular ap: prompt =>  AP0016.47b2.1e60>

Also we are not able to cause it to break when it starts inflating the image -  using putty or secure crt

Hi again - we are seeing a little progress here - after getting the tftp process to start

we see the following stuff and then eventually there's an error.

*Mar 1 00:16:55.397: %CAPWAP-5-CHANGED: CAPWAP changed state to DISCOVERY
*Mar 1 00:16:55.403: %CAPWAP-3-ERRORLOG: Did not get log server settings from DHCP.
*Mar 1 00:16:55.506: %CAPWAP-3-ERRORLOG: Could Not resolve CISCO-CAPWAP-CONTROLLER.sequoiap.net
*Mar 1 00:16:55.610: %CAPWAP-3-ERRORLOG: Could Not resolve CISCO-LWAPP-CONTROLLER.sequoiap.net. [timed out]

Premature end of tar file
ERROR: Problem extracting files from archive.
archive download: takes 59 seconds

So the process is not completing.  I've downloaded the following file:

c1240-k9w7-tar.124-25d.JA.tar

Perhaps if we can get the device to stop trying to do dhcp?  But no idea how to supress that.

Hi,

Please issue the command

debug capwap client no-reload

debug capwap console cli

and the assign the ip address to the fa or the gig interfae of the AP and then do the archive download command as per the document.. this will help you!!
