Hi community,

is it possible to use a AIR-CAP3502I-E-K9 without a WLC? I read some discussions

about an autonomous IOS. Is it avaiable yet?

If not can you give a suggestions for a suitable WLC. I only have to

connect two AIR-CAP3502I-E-K9 in an small business environment.

Thank you very much

Nico

Hi Nico,

The 3500 series is not supported in Autonomous mode. Here is an excellent

discussion that discusses why you won't want to go that route

The smallest WLC for support of the 3500's would be something like a 2106.

Maybe you would like to look into the 1260 or 1040 AP's in your environment;

As Rob mentioned.  You "can" load an autonomous IOS into the 3500 but TAC won't help you if you need configuration assistance.  Autonomous IOS was "built" for wireless site survey and nothing else.

Also as Rob mentioned, the smallest WLC is the 2K series, i.  e.  2504 but personally I wouldn't recommend it because there's really no major improvements to the 2106.  I would, on the other hand, recommend the WLC 5508 instead.
