1210 b and g radios ver 12.2(15)XR2
WLSE 1105 ver 2.7.1
I've been testing the use of scanning-only AP's and I have a couple of problems that level one support has been unable to assist with. First is that the documentation implies that you can set up an AP without any SSID at all, but when I try this, the RF interface doesn't come up, period. With a bogus SSID, the RF interface comes up, and rogue client detection works apparently as it should, except that the RF interface resets itself over & over again every 10 seconds or so. So, is this normal? Is this just false reporting on the RF resets? Is there a way to configure an AP without an SSID? Is there a "known good" scanning-only AP config that I could get my hands on? Thanks, Andy

Thanks for the reply, but I'm looking for someone that is actually using scanning only AP's successfully in attempt to get a "known good" config. The Cisco docs haven't worked for me.

Well, I get the same as you in some respects - I need to put in a dummy SSID, but I don't get the resets.
My D0 config is pretty much the default - SSID of scanningAP and station-role scanner.
I'm running 12.3(2)JA at the moment, although I may go back to 12.2 as the web interface doesn't appear to work.
[edit] hmm... I got a couple of resets at 18:00:00 and 18:00:02. that was half an hour after I configured the AP to scan.
