AP-1852i-A-K9C cycling through green, red, and amber

Hello! I purchased a brand new AIR-AP1852I-A-K9C (product number on the Cisco box) and the description below is "Cisco Aironet Mobility Express 1850 Series". The AP boots up and is cycling through green, red, and amber (Discovery/join process in progress). The AP gets an IP from DHCP (matching the MAC on the box) and I can ping it, but can't see the SSID CiscoAirProvision or open a webpage on its IP. Tried to reset as per guide (holding the reset, power on, wait 20-60 secs, release reset), but no improvement. Unfortunately I do not have a console cable to connect to my Mac computer, so this limits my troubleshooting skills.

your AP is in CAPWAP Mode (Need WLC to manage).

1. Paste the output of sh version command from AP

What you can do to resolve it: console to AP and convert it to Mobility express.

How to do it:

Thank you Sandeep!

I was convinced, based on the part #, that I purchased an AP with the ME firmware.

I placed my order for the AirConsole, I will then be able to access the console port on the AP.

Will keep this post updated with my results.

Well updating the firmware to the latest version helped. Since it was a brand new AP with no config, after the firmware upgrade I did a hard reset. The CiscoAirProvision SSID finally came up, and I was able to configure the AP over the web console/wifi. 2 things I learned from this : 1) always have a console cable available for Cisco product, because the console is great source of information. 2) update to the latest firmware.
