AP cannot join vWLC 9800

Hi AP3802(v8.10) cannot join vWLC(v 17.5). Both device can ping each other. From ap, we can see log message that the ap send message to the controller, but not reply from the controller. On controller, we cannot see any ap info. AP time is last year novmber, while the vWLC is current time. Is this reason why ap cannot join the controller? Thank you

NTP is mandatory to get the AP register to the WLC, so make sure that the WLC is configured with a NTP server and make sure to choose the correct country.

Also it is mandatory that you configure the WMI interface correctly and 9800-CL as the virtual appliance doesn’t come with a Manufacture Installed Certificate, so you need to create a self signed certificate as well.

Create a new SSC for the management interface using the exec command: wireless config vwlc-ssc key-size 2048 signature-algo sha256 password 0 <password>

Set the WMI - wireless management interface GigabitEthernetX (whatever the interface)

If still not working connect a console cable to your AP and post the output here. From WLC side, use the AP MAC address and run a RA trace for the same.

from statement "On controller, we cannot see any ap info." i may assume capwap discoveries from AP dont reach WLC. Can u verify it with network capture on the WLC side switch?
