Hello,

we have Cisco 2500 series controller:

Bootloader Version............................... 1.0.20
Field Recovery Image Version..................... 7.6.101.1

We can not join AP AIR-LAP1242AG-E-K9:

System image file is "flash:/c1240-k9w8-mx.124-25e.JAP12/c1240-k9w8-mx.124-25e.JAP12"

Its stuck and cycling at:

What can be a problem?

The AP is a 1240 and the final WLC version to support them is 8.0.X.X.

Thanks for your answer. So its not possible to join it? Can you please trace me to the information you use for that? Any document which stating this?

And one more question, can we use it as a standalone AP, what is needed for that?

Downgrade the WLC firmware to 8.0.X.X.

1240 autonomous IOS

Many thanks.

One more question, please.

I have AIR-LAP1242AG-E-K9 with flash:/c1240-k9w8-mx.124-25e.JAP12/c1240-k9w8-mx.124-25e.JAP12

And WLC:

Product Version.................................. 7.6.130.0
Bootloader Version............................... 1.0.20
Field Recovery Image Version..................... 7.6.101.1

Compatibility matrix says:

7.6.130.0

15.2(4)JB6

12.4.25e-JAO6

Lightweight APs: 1040, 1130, 1140, 1240,

Does it mean, I should somehow load a 12.4.25e-JAO6 firmware on my AP in order to connect to WLC?

How can I load this firmware?

Let the AP join the controller with 7.6.X.X and the controller will push the correct firmware down to the AP.

However, be aware of FN - 63942 - Wireless Lightweight Access Points and WLAN Controllers Fail to Create CAPWAP Connections Due to Certificate Expiration.
