AP Channel Asignment

Hi,

I got 3 APs which are near each other (classrooms),

I wonder why the same channel is used over 3 APs ?

Do my configurations look right? or do i miss something?

Some APs use 20Mhz channel width even if (as you can see above) the configuration is set to 40Mhz:

What makes this AP prefer 20Mhz over 40Mhz?

How much time are those APs connected for? Can you show the RF Profile section for DCA to check for available channels?

Try forcing DCA calculation manually to see if that improbes.

Do you mean uptime? If so, they were running for about one month.

How to do it manually? is it "Freeze + invoke?"

Yes that is the option to trigger a new channel calculation.

As channel assignment depend on which options have you enabled under 802.11a > RRM > Dynamic Channel Assignment, if options such as avoid external AP interference, or noise, or persistent interference are enabled, and they exist, then DCA algorithm should be selecting the less impacted channel that may be Ch48 in your case.

Try deselecting all of them and see if that makes any change, but it would be nice to assess the environment to see how the other channels looks like (Ekahau Analytics for spectrum analysis (paid) or WinFi for WLAN analysis (free) could assist you). Also try configuring 20MHz channel widths to see what happen, this way having 8 channels where to select and not only 4.
