AP in Flexconnect Mode and WLC ReDiscovery

We recently had a wireless flap event thanks to some techs in another country amending DNS entries, and we noticed that roughly half of our AP's in Flexconnect (local switching) mode eventually went into rediscovery.

We are trying to find out what may have caused this, is there a timeout value that we are not aware of, I thought that once an AP went into standalone mode it would remain in that mode until communications with the controller were reestablished.

Any assistance or ideas would be great.

FlexConnect will go into discovery when the AP looses connectivity to the WLC. The AP will continue to try to discover the WLC through the various methods. Why would an AP loose the connection to the WLC, well two ports are required here, UDP 5246 and UDP 5247.
