Hello Hugh,

The management interface will be the proper address to define as a  Radius client for your windows 2008 NPS server. Authentication packets  will be sourced from the management interface.

The ap-manager interface is simply the termination point for all of the lwapp/capwap tunnels between your WLC and the APs.

I will add...

Your APs will terminate to the ap manager. So if you ever have any firewall moves or changes you will want to consider this ip / interface.

If you have the new 5508s, you dont need AP managers.

Thanks for the replies. I having another issue. My WLC 2100 show action on the rear panel (green flashing light) how ever I cannot ping it. Yesterday I could login to the device but today I cannot. What command line do I use  to troubleshoot

Hi Hugh,

You will want to check that your interface settings are correct on the WLC, if you can get on the console:

"show interface summary"

"show interface detailed management"

Then you will want to also verify your switchport configuration that it is connected to.

One of the most common mistakes is the VLAN tag -- if the VLAN is configured as native on the switchport, you will want it to be set to 0 on the WLC. (config interface vlan management x)
