AP1100 and Compaq tablet PC's

We have a client that recently upgraded all his Laptops and tablets to Compaqs with built-in wireless capability. I have noticed that the laptops seem to work much better and display a much stronger signal strength reading. Both devices are running windows XP and are using Windows Terminal services. The tablets seem to hang when typing. I thought it may be a signal strength issue or data rate issue so I bumped the power up and set data rate to any, rather than just 11 mbps. It seemed to help some but the tablets still have problems hanging. The laptops have continued to work without any problems. Has anyone else seen this problem, and if so, how have you resolved it?

Thanks in advance for your ideas.

Steve

I too use a Compaq Tablet PC with a network of 1100s. The in-built cards in these tablets don't seem to be anywhere near as good as a separate wireless card - I tend to keep a 3com x-jack card in mine most of the time.

I believe there was a problem in some Compaq tablets having a piece of shielding tape for the LCD rater close to the internal antenna, which didn't help.

Putting the latest drivers on has helped somewhat, but the internal card is still not brilliant.
