I have an AP1231G access point and I am trying to configure it as a workgroup bridge (i think is what I need). Here is what I have. In one room I have a wireless router and in the other room I have two computers, switch and AP1231. My goal is to make computers in the other room to be able to access internet through wireless router.

What is the correct configuration on AP1231 to achieve that?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Serge

Hi Serge,

What wireless router are you using? Is it a Cisco router?

If so I would recomend you watch the following video which goes over basics including

  1. Basic Wireless bridge config with Open SSID
  2. WPA2 Pre-Shared key

And here is an advanced video which goes into ADVANCED configuration including

  1. EAP
  2. LOCAL Radius
  3. VLANs

All Credit for the videos goes to MrRaffinux who's videos I have used to setup and encypt my wireless environment.

Hope this helps.

Kind Regards,

Liam

No, its not cisco router. Its a basic Linksys VOIP router, model #WRTU54G

Hi Serge,

I do not have a Linksys box to test your above scienario with.

However I have found a document that may help:-

http://homedownloads.cisco.com/downloads/userguide/1224638337710/WRTU54G_TM_V10_UG_B-WEB.pdf

if you open the pdf and ctrl+f(find) "bridge" It will walk you though how to get your linksys box set up as a bridge.

Sorry I could not be more of a help, but hopefully the above document and two videos will be of use.

Kind Regards,

Liam
