I have been tasked with implementing DHCPv6 for our campus wireless clients. At the moment they are receiving IPv4 addresses from a central DHCPv4 server using DHCP Proxy with Option 82 on the WLCs.
Apparently the WLC does not support DHCPv6 Proxy. There will be no Router Advertisment and no SLAAC. We will use central DHCPv6 with all necessary information coming in the DHCPv6 packets.
Wireless clients will have an L2 connection all the way up to the firewall, but the firewalls are not supporting DHCPv6 Relay and the DHCP server resides in an other network.
I am considering inserting a Layer 3 switch between WLC and FW and do IPv6 Relay on the switch. Is there any other solution to accomplish this? Any setting I can configure on the WLC to relay the IPv6 request to the DHCPv6 server?
I have attached a basic drawing.

Hi
I dont see any better option either. What I have to say is keep on eye on the security here. Read all the information Cisco has for IPv6 deployment on WLC and also, make sure you firewall is ok with that. IPv6 is not popular for a reason.
