Autonomous APs WIDS requirements

In order to certify PCI compliance of some client infrastructures made of autonomous APs, I'm trying to make a feature matrix for those APs related to WIDS capabilities and requirements but I hardly can find such information. The Aironet models are: 1100, 1200, 1240 and 1260.

In order to WIDS to provide rogue detection, is it needed a WLSE (Cisco Prime) for such feature to be fully functional or it's only needed an AP as a WDS Device locally configured?

Hi,

1. yes, In order to WIDS to provide rouge detection and mitigation fully functional you require

AP, WLSM, Wireless Controller, MSE, Cisco Prime.

2. And In order to use WDS, you must designate one AP or the WLSM as the WDS.

and as WDS feature enable these functions

  • Fast Secure Roaming

  • WLSE interaction

  • Radio Management
