Autonomous WAP using LDAP Authentication

Hello,

Can you configure Access Points to allow LDAP authentication of users when they are accessing wireless networks?

Do you have to have a Controller to do this?

If so, what happens if a WAN link from a WAP to its controller goes down? Is the WAP (and subsequesnt user) denied access to the Wireless LAN?

Thanks,

Kevin

An autonomous (IOS) AP cannot be connected to an ldap database without a radius (ACS for example) intermediate.

The Controller (WLC) can do this but if the WAN link to the AP goes down, then the AP cannot do the authentication on its own. Users are denied access unless you have some other SSID with direct radius authentication.
