Here is a URL that has some of the differences between the bridges that you mention. http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/wireless/ps458/index.html

Basicaly a Root Bridge (RB) is a wireless lan bridge that is connected to the network via ethernet cable to router or switch that also connects via wireless to a Non-Root Bridge (NRB) at a remote site. The NRB is connected to a switch with users connected to that switch. A workgroup bridge is basically a wireless hub that can connect up to eight wired users and send traffic wireless via an access point or a wireless lan bridge.
