When broadcasting the SSID, is there any way to prevent all the probing machines from showing up in the client summary area? I'd like it if I only saw my associated clients instead of all these other "false clients" if at all possible.

sure, you can use the "filter" under "Monitor>Clients" to see just associated/authenticated clients. Take a look at the attached screenshot.
