Hello,
I have a C9130AXI-B that I am trying to setup up but unable to get the webgui or Wifi to work. Reading the forums I tried to convert the 9130 to a embedded wireless controller. I downloaded C9800-AP-universalk9.17.12.02.zip and followed the directions from
I uploaded the ap1g6a and C9800-AP-ioswe-wlc.bin from the 9.17.12.02 package via TFTP. I do not need to set up another accesspoint from this device so I do not have a server with the AP files to point to. Which is good because the below did not work
AP-1#ap-type ewc-ap ?
WORD URL of AP image <tftp|sftp>://<server_ip>/<file_path>
There is a newer version available 9.17.12.05.
My question is, after completing option 1. Initial CLI Configuration and writing to memory the device stayed in discovery mode (flashing red/green)
It can no longer ping between my laptop and the WAP with g0 set up. Just not sure where to go from here. We purchased the device to verify if it will stand up to our shock requirements prior to implementing. For this device I just need to be able to ping it from a wired and wireless device and perform our testing. So a full setup is not required.

FYI the "9." is not part of the software version number. k9 in the name denotes an image which supports strong encryption which is usually subject to US export control restrictions. So in this case 17.12.05 is the version number.
You'll find lots of other threads on here if you search about EWC and pinging the interface:
- Make sure you have default route or default gateway (with no ip routing) correctly configured
- Sometimes it just doesn't work for no obvious reason - reload may sometimes kick it into life.
- Remember you need 2 IP addresses - 1 on the EWC controller and 1 on the client serving AP (the bit with the radios) and they must be in the same subnet with connectivity between them. Ideally use a DHCP server to provide the IPs otherwise you need to configure them statically. They must have a working, reachable default gateway.
Yes you should always use the latest recommended version as per the TAC recommended link below.
