Cable modem to wireless laptop

tried put sis laptop Dell 610 Lati.on home network with desktop; Road runner using linksys router in between cable modem & Netgear wireless.Both XP;could'nt get help from Brighthouse.Can any1 help?????

Get a Cisco 871W wireless router. Stick it right after the cable modem and get ride of the linksys and netgear POS.
