We have one of our production plants running a WLC4402 7.0.250 with scanners, laptops,iPads ,Ascom i75 phones and Cisco 7925g phones.
There are no problems with the data connections , or the Ascom phones, but the 7925G phones drop out on voice calls continually. Note this site runs 2.4Ghz only
It is not a signal strength problem as will drop out even when it is -57dbm. I have the following questions.

We are about to upgrade to a WLC5508 will that make any difference.?
I do not think WLC upgrade make a difference. Better to think about moving to 5GHz at least for 7925G phones, if you have dual band AP ? What AP model do you have currently ?
Pls attach the "show wlan <wlan_id>" output to see how you configure the current voice SSID.

Hi
Here are some of my suggestions.
Wired Protocol................................... 802.1P (Tag=5)
This should be configured as 6.
DTIM period for 802.11a radio.................... 5 DTIM period for 802.11b radio.................... 5
Cisco recommend value is 2 for this.
FT Over-The-Air mode............................. Enabled FT Over-The-Ds mode.............................. Enabled
Disable these settings
Provide "show 802.11b" output to see what data rates configured on that band.
If you have 1242 with dual band antenna with sufficient overlapping coverage among cells, then you can create a SSID on 5GHz & put these 7925G for a test.

Ok,
the DTIM period set to 5 as that is what is recommended for the Ascom phones, and we have more Ascom than Cisco phones. I need a compromise! Please find enclosed recommended settings for the Ascom phones
re Fast Transition , I don't see that option appearing on the WLAN security GUI page for the 4402 running 7.0 whereas I do on my 5508s running 7.6 So is it on by default on the 4400 WLC?

Without compromise Ascom setup, it is prefered if you create a new SSID for Cisco phone to test this out.
Here is the 7925G design guides that you can follow when creating this new SSID

What is the firmware of the 7925G? It should be running a minimum of 1.4(3) or newer.
