Can a Cisco 154Xe AP mesh(connect) with a Cisco 1520e AP?

Has anybody tried to associate a 1520 mesh AP talk to a 1542 root? any documentation on the matter?

No, the two cannot be on the same mesh network.  The last supported SW for the AP1520 is 8.0.and the AP1540 will be first be supported on SW 8.5.x
