Can I migrate PI 2.1 data to clean PI 3.0 installation?

I want to skip the dual upgrade process (2.1 to 2.2 and than to 3.0, because 2.1 to 3.0 directly is not supported).

Can I just backup the PI2.0 data, and than restore it to a clean PI3.0 installation?

Thanks!

Naor.

Hi Naorel,

CPI 3.0 QuickStart Guide

As per above document Cisco don't support going from 2.1 to 3.0 via backup/restore or an inline upgrade so you don't have much choice but to go to 2.2 first.

From experience I find it easier to do a side-by-side migration (providing the resources are available) and export/import the nodes and map data. That is only because a backup/restore completely failed for me a couple of times.

Cheers,

Ric

Hi Ric,

I also wish to do a clean install, and I have the resources for it..

But do I still have to do it twice? or I can import 2.1 data directly into 3.0?

Thanks!

Naor.

It's "unsupported" so not recommended. You could certainly try and see how it goes as you can always start fresh if it fails using the side-by-side method.

Are you unable to perform an inline minor upgrade from 2.1 to 2.2 then do the clean install?

I'll do the long way... :)
