I have a ap1231g. Using a very simple config using a wep key. The problem is simple, the ap asks for 12 or 28 hex digits but windows is asking for 10 or 26? What do I do?
I'd use wpa if you can tell me how.
Thanks,
Ricky

Try WPA2. It's alot secure.
Wi-Fi Protected Access 2 (WPA 2) Configuration Example

Hope this helps you.

I'll check it out. But I still would like to resolve this seemingly simple problem.
Thanks for replying!!!

I've never known an AP to ask for 12/28. It should be asking for 10/26. What version of IOS are you using? What command are you trying to use?
This is what I see from the CLI:
ap(config-if)#enc key 1 size 128bit ?
0 Specifies an UNENCRYPTED key will follow
7 Specifies a HIDDEN key will follow
Hex-string 26 hexadecimal digits
ap(config-if)#enc key 1 size 40bit ?
0 Specifies an UNENCRYPTED key will follow
7 Specifies a HIDDEN key will follow
Hex-string 10 hexadecimal digits
