CAP-2602 not registering with WLC4402

I have a WLC model 4402 running 7.0.235.3. I am trying to make a CAP2602 to join the WLC but it is unable to. Doesn't the 4402 with this software support the 2602? The WLC has a license for 12 AP's, only 9 in use. Currently there are only AIR-LAP1131 connected to the WLC.

The debug on the WLC shows this;

*spamReceiveTask: Aug 14 08:16:07.133: 00:3a:9a:ab:c0:74 Received LWAPP DISCOVERY REQUEST to ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff on port '29'

*spamReceiveTask: Aug 14 08:16:07.133: Ethernet Source MAC (LRAD):      00:3A:9A:AB:C0:74

**spamReceiveTask: Aug 14 08:16:07.134: 00:3a:9a:ab:c0:74 Discarding discovery request in LWAPP from AP supporting CAPWAP

The CAP2602 gets its IP from the switch, and keeps on changing IP's all the time. I am able to ping it until it changes IP.

I can answer this myself, after some checking I found out that the last software-version for WLC4402, which is 7.0.240, does NOT support the 2602 access-points according to this document,

2600 AP requires firmware 7.4.X.

7.4.X code is supported on the 2504/5508/WiSM-2 and later.  It's not supported in 4400/WiSM-1.

Hello,

As per your query i can suggest you the following solution-

The controller software is factory installed on your controller and automatically downloaded to the access points after a release upgrade and whenever an access point joins a controller. We recommend that you install the latest software version available for maximum operational benefit.

Change the IP address of the management interface.

Hope this will help you.
