What is the supported image version for C3850-12S to connect AIR-AP2802E-E-K9 . I could find the supported version going through the compatibility matrix document https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/compatibility/matrix/compatibility-matrix.html#56735

Compatibility for the 3850s and access points appears to be in the release notes for the IOS XE release. A quick scan through only appears to show the 16.3 Denali release supporting the 2800 series. As this is the end of the line for the wireless controller in the 3850 (16.5 and up remove this functionality), you might want to consider other ways of running your access points.
