Hi,

Our company has a customer with a Cisco 4402 WLC and a code version of 4.2.130.0 .  The customer wants to upgrade the code to 7.0.230.0.

Question:

     1.  Is there any flash size requirement when upgrading to 7.0.230.0? (upgrade train: 4.2.130.0 ----> 4.2.209.0 ----> 7.0.230.0)

     2.  How can I find the flash size?

Regards,

You can upgrade a 4400 up to the latest 7.0.240.X code without any issues.

You just have to refer to Table 1-1 so you'll know what upgrade steps you need to do before you can upgrade to 7.0.240.X.

Make sure you upgrade the bootstrap (ER files) as well.

Because of the number of interim software you need to upgrade, I'd recommend you have a 1 hour change window.

Hi Leo,

Is there a way to see the flash size in the WLC?

Regards,

Is there a way to see the flash size in the WLC?

1.  Which one?  WLC 4400 have two flash.  Each is 256 mb (if memory serves me correct).

2.  I don't see the relevance.

Hi Leo,

The customer is asking what is the flash size in the WLC,  in case the code is upgraded, is there enough space in the flash for the new code.  I want to show the customer the flash size.

If the flash size is 256mb, then there will be no issue upgrading the code.

Regards,

The latest code for the WLC 4400, 7.0.240.X, will allow TWO firmwares to be stored.  You can "fall-back" to an old firmware, is possible.

Thanks a lot leo for the info
