Cisco 9130AX Wifi 6 APs cant be master?

Dear Experts,

I am working with a customer for their 30 AP setup and they are interested in exploring Cisco mobility express. However i have seen in the release notes that 9xxx series APs cannot be master AP and only subordinate AP. Does this mean they have to purchase last generation AP to get the cluster up and running?

You are working with an existing Mobility Express setup?  If not, you should look into EWC or migrate to EWC from Mobility Express.

By the way, you are correct, the 91xx is not supported to be a controller in Mobility Express and that is why you should look at migrating to EWC, which is preferred over Mobility Express.

The 9100 series are not supported in mobility express. These APs support a newer and better version of controller functionality replacing mobility express on the Aps which is EWC and you should consider migrating to it and have the 9100 series AP as the new controller and your other Aps join it as a lightweight Ap as Scott mentioned..
