My question is regarding the scenario of ceiling mounting 9166D1 APs with the internal directional antenna, in a warehouse to provide RF signal propagation down each warehouse aisle. What is confusing me is when I see documentation of a 9166D1 ceiling mounted halfway down a 300' warehouse aisle, with a screenshot of a heatmap showing the RF signal propagating from the AP in opposite directions basically providing coverage for the entire aisle. I was under the assumption that a9166D1 with the internal directional antenna would focus the majority of the signal in one direction, with some signal propagating in the opposite direction, but not the same distance as the direction of the antenna, if that makes sense. The screenshot below is from an Ekahau webinar with an AP with a directional antenna ceiling mounted halfway down a warehouse aisle. I'm confused how the RF signal could propagate in a north-south direction from the AP?

Thanks for your reply. I have reviewed that document as well as several others, but still cannot get the light bulb to go off as far understanding the answers to my post.

Have you been through this one?

I would expect that this screenshot is not from a CW9166D1. The pattern from the datasheet looks different, but it matches what I see in Hamina when I place this AP in the middle of an aisle at 5m height with no downtilt.

I watched this webinar live and I believe they said the ones in the middle of the aisles were facing straight down, which is why they have even propagation north-south. It doesn't propagate east-west because of the merchandise shelves; if you look closely, the AP isn't at the intersection, it's tucked back between the two shelves a bit. They'll have set those obstacles representing the shelves set to a high attenuation since pallets full of merchandise have high attenuation (especially if they're metal or liquid items).

This is pointing down, 12m height, 15 dBm. That seems to be the case here.
