Hi All
Currently, i have a cisco AIR 1552SA with Controller 5508
as datasheet of cisco AIR 1552SA :
+ 802.11b maximum transmit power - 28dbm with 2 antennas
+ three Cisco AIR-ANT2547V-N-HZ antennas dual-band, omnidirectional, stick antennas with 4dbi ( 2.4Ghz ) and 7 dbi ( 5Ghz )
If you set 802.11b, EIRP ( 2,4Ghz ) = 28dbm + 4 dbi = 32 dbm correct ?
i show advance 802.11b in wirless controller
=> just 802.11b is 15 dbm
now, i want to config WLC to set maximum transmit power to AIR 1552SA ( 32dbm )
pls help me
Thanks

Hi Nguyen,
Agree with scott, It depends on the regulatery domain.
Check about the cahnnels and Power level for specific domain:

So I think you have only 5 power level and the max power you can get is 15dBm for first 2 AP according to regulatery domain.
the 3rd AP which is connected with WLC can have 18 dBm but this all depends on your regulatery domain made APs.
Scott is right, if you need to have good signal the add more APs.

TX power depends in the country regulations. From the CLI, issue the following to determine the max TX power:

Hi Scoot
I am from VietNam.
When i show advanced 802.11b txpowe and result on AIR1552sa is 15dbm
This causes singal streng which is very week. I want to increse txpower
Thanks

You can't increase power more than what the AP is manufactured for (regulatory domain). If you have weak signal, then you need to add more access points. Looking at your output, 15dbm is your max for that country and the 2.4ghz channel. The max tx power is set for the antenna that Cisco allows you to use. You want to increase EIRP past what the regulations is, then replace the antennas with a 3rd party that has a higher gain. This of course can get you in trouble if in your country they are strict with regulations. 15dbm is the tx power for your radio and not the total EIRP.

Hi you
AP use 3 external antenna, each antenna has 4dbi, i see with regulatory domain E, max power is 15dbm
but not EIRP. Because when you plug antenna, signal strength increase more.
pls take a look highlight, i dont understand External Antenna Gain (in .5 dBi units).... 0
Thanks

the 3rd AP which is connected with WLC can have 18 dBm
=> this is AP indoor 3602I-E-K9 in my network
With the same E Regulatory domain why the indoor ap 3602 has power than 1552sa outdoor.
it's not simple that can explaint to customer about this.
03-07-2014 08:19 AM
It's regulations... indoor has its own regulations from outdoor depending on the country. The antenna gain on the 3602i is also a lower gain antenna.
Thanks,
Scott

Hi Nguyen,
The maximum power setting will vary by channel and according to individual country regulations.
For this you cant do anything because cisco made this products and you can give the maual of these Access Point to your custmoer to make them understand.
