Cisco Antenna Question

Hi   

Will a AIR-ANT2524V4C-R= ceiling mount dual band (MIMO) antenna work with a Cisco  AIR-LAP1242AG-E-K9 access point?

Funny you ask this question. We looked at this as well. I cant speak to the power becuase I notice the E country code of your ap. But yes, it would work, but I dont know if this would be Cisco supported. The wording of MIMO is confusing to me because the antenna spec doesn't have a lot of detail. The 1242 isnt a MIMO ap.

Thanks George, Have you actually tried this combination?

Due to the 1242 not having dual-band antenna ports I assumed it wouldn't work correctly.

Using dual-band antenna ports allows the access point to support these added transceivers while maintaining a reasonably low number of antenna connections. Each dual-band antenna can transmit or receive Wi-Fi signals in both the 2.4-GHz and 5-GHz bands simultaneously.

I agree with your statement. I have a MIMO ant plugged into a non mimo ap and it works. I dont see any specific issues, but I wouldnt do this for a customer. This is in my lab.

We have installed dual bands antennas meant for the 3600's temporally on 1242's until my customer was able to swap out the AP's.  They worked fine.
