Cisco Lightweight AP - Belkim WeMo Connectivity

Hello ... has anyone had any success Connecting Belkin WeMo Devices (Light Switch) to a Cisco Lightweight Access Point Infrastructure?

I have a Cisco WLC 5508 w/ Software v7.4.121 and Cisco 1262's AP's. I am using WPA2 Personal on the WLAN I am trying to get my Belkin WeMo Light Switch be able to associate to the WLAN and communicate to Tablets/Smartphones (iOS and Android) that support the Belkin Wemo App.

I get to the point of setup that the Belkin Wemo Device associates to the WLAN however I cannot communicate to it via my Smartphone and/or Tablet via the APP. I can however ping the WeMo Device on the network.

P2P Blocking Action is disabled on the WLAN.

Pls attach "show wlan <wlan_ID>" output where for the WLAN you created to associate these devices.

hi Rasika,

I have tried to disable TKIP however same results.

I have even tried to connect the WeMo Device via "NoSecurity" and still receive the same results.

Hi Paul,

Did you test this setup in any other environment, like home WiFi setup just to make sure WeMo is working.

I've seen similar things happen when these devices rely on multicast for discovery and connectivity.  In my case I've got a LIFX device which doesn't seem to work when I centrally switch the WLAN.

Are you able to test this out by running your WLAN in FlexConnect mode and switching the data locally rather than centrally and see if that helps?

Hi Reuben,

I had a suspicion that Multicast may be causing the issue, however I could not perform a packet capture at the time of my troubleshooting.

Unfortunately all of my AP's are "Local" Connected in a Production Environment. However sometime this weekend, I am going to change one of the AP's to FlexConnect with Local Switching and see if this corrects the issue.

I will let you know the results .. thanks for the advise.

I was wondering if anyone has figured this issue out? I have 10 WEMO devices and only my Android phones will see it. None of our Apple devices will see ANY of the WEMO deivices. Not to mention that It took days for me to upgrade all firmware but one. Still have one left that will not update even though the update is available.
