Hi,

if i set the username and password simultaneous login to "1", i understand that only single-session will be allowed by the WLC. what if the wireless user used the login for the laptop and decided to disconnect its laptop and use his iPAD, how will WLC behave on this? please enlighten.

thanks!

If the user is still active in the system then that user will not be able to login. There are two timers you need to understand. One is the session timer which when a user authenticates, the timer starts counting down. This is a hard timer and will force a re auth when the timer expires. The other timer is the idle timer. Default is 300 seconds. So when a device is powered off, the client will still be in the run state and when the device is idle, the timer counts down. So until one or the other expires, usually the idle timer, then the user would be able to login again.

Hope this makes sense.

Adding on to Scott's post, if the user has the logout page and clicks on the button, it should remove them from the MSCB and allow a new authentication to happen.

Hello,

As per your query i can suggest you -

After wireless user used the login for the laptop and decided to disconnect its laptop and use his iPAD, WLC will allow the users only when the timers expires. One is the session timer and the other is idle timer.

The session timeout can be configured as per WLAN, from 300~86400 seconds.

On the other hand, the user idle timeout is a global parameter for controller. If the AP/WLC does not receive any packets from the client, after a certain period of time, the client entry will be deleted.

The user idle timeout can be configured from 15~100000 seconds.

Hope this will help
