Hello Guys,

We have an issue as the client's UserName is Unknown in the Monitor->Clients tab on the WLC!

However, the type of security is WPA2+PSA.

Can anyone help us to find out a resolution for this issue?

Thanks in advance

Mahmoud Shaalan

However, the type of security is WPA2+PSA.

As I've mentioned in the other thread (HERE), there is no way to enter a "username" when PSK is used.

I'm asking about the UserName in Monitor->Clients tab (the name of of the machine connected to wireless) not the Username used to access the wireless!

If the WLAN is used with WPA2+PSK then the Username field will always be Unknown.

Thanks for your reply Sandeep,

So, what is the requirements to do this?

Thanks,

Mahmoud Shaalan

If you want the machine name/username under client section then you need to use other authentication method..such as:

1. Layer 3 - Webauth

2. WPA2 + 802.1x

3. etc......

Thanks again Sandeep,

Can you please share with me a cisco document says this?

Thanks,

Mahmoud Shaalan

If you have AD and users are in your domain, then like the others stated, use PEAP 802.1x.  Search for wlc peap mschapv2 nps.

If this is for guest users, then use WebAuth.  Search for WLC webauth configuration

There are many docs, blogs and videos out there for this, so just do a quick search and review some of them.  These will not be as easy as PSK just to let you know and will require other things to make it work.

RADIUS authentication is another option.

Is there a Cisco document says that?
