Clients cannot get IP from Flexconnect AP

Folks,

My wireless is deployed as flexconnect mode. I have 3 branches and each of them has their own VLAN, and the four SSIDs is the same. At my branch A, the vlan is 52. Vlan 52 is not reachable to my WLC but the AP at that branch can ping vlan 52 gateway. But the clients which connect the AP cannot gain their IP address from my DHCP server which is in VLAN 52, where did i do wrong? By the way, the dynamic interface I created in my WLC cannot ping the VLAN 52 gateway, either.

Hi Scott,

Thanks for the warning! One of the switch did not create the vlan53, after doing that, the WLAN's which map VLAN 53 work fine now! But the problem remains with VLAN 52, should I map all the AP's into a different VLAN which maps no WLAN?

Typically that is what I do. I will put the AP's in the network management vlan or have its own AP vlan if there are a lot of AP's. it's up to you.

OK, when i get it done i will mark it.

I just put the AP into vlan 51 and set vlan 51 the native vlan in the port and the vlan mapping. But still no work

If vlan 51 is set to native vlan on the FlexConnect, then the WLAN to vlan mapping should not be set to 51, but to 1.  Try that.  The reason is your not tagging the frame from the native vlan.  So if your AP is on vlan 51 and your wlans will use both vlan 52 and vlan 53, then you will specify the following:

FlexConnect Vlan mode :.......................... Enabled

        Native ID :..................................... 51

        WLAN 1 :........................................ 52

        WLAN 2 :........................................ 53

        WLAN 3 :........................................ 53

        WLAN 4 :........................................ 53

If you want to put the uses on the same vlan as the AP which is now on vlan 51, then you would do this:

FlexConnect Vlan mode :.......................... Enabled

        Native ID :..................................... 51

        WLAN 1 :........................................ 51

        WLAN 2 :........................................ 53

        WLAN 3 :........................................ 53

        WLAN 4 :........................................ 53

Make sure you have created a DHCP scope for that network on vlan 51.  Also note that if you have it working on vlan 53, then its most likely and issue with your network configuration or your dhcp.  Because if you map WLAN 1 to vlan 53 and it works, then you know that the wireless configuration is fine and that your network or dhcp is the issue.

Thanks,

Scott

Hi Scott,

I have got this resolved. I just replaced the vlan 52 with vlan 54, no other changes such as the SVI configuration, then everything goes fine now. Although i cannot find out the reason as the only difference between vlan 52 and 54 is the VLAN ID, anyways, it's working now.

Thanks for your help as you really did me a great favor!

No problem
