Containment of Rogue APs fails

Andreas Sartori

Hello,

I am trying to contain rogue accesspoints and just doing some testing. In the syslog I am getting the following message:

Mar 30 11:56:55 10.80.12.5 XYZ: *apfRogueTask_2: Mar 30 11:56:55.751: #APF-1-UNABLE_TO_CONTAIN_ROGUE: [SA] apf_rogue.c:4612 Unable to contain rogue 00:C8:FF:FF:8C:FF - no available AP to contain. Number of Container AP(s) 0, Requested containment level 1
Mar 30 11:56:55 10.80.12.5 XYZ: *apfRogueTask_2: Mar 30 11:56:55.751: #APF-1-UNABLE_TO_CONTAIN_ROGUE: [SA] apf_rogue.c:4692 Unable to contain rogue 00:C8:FF:8C:FF - Failed to find a container AP for the rogue. Number of Container AP(s) 0, Requested containment level 1

I tried the "Auto Containment Level" Auto and 1. When analyzing the log message i am assuming i need to classify APs for "containment" mode. But I could not find anything in this direction.

Maybe someone can give me a hint in the right direction.

regards

Andreas

Be very aware if you are in the US this is against the fcc and you could be fined ..

As as for your question you need to select how many aps you want to join in on the containment .. Is that what your asking ?

Hi,

from my understanding the correct setting for this is "Auto Containment Level" for. Correct? If i change this setting i have no change in the behaviour.

I am always getting the same messages "

Failed to find a container AP for the rogue. Number of Container AP(s) 0

Is there another setting?

btw: i am not in the us.

kind regards

andreas
