Hi,
I got an AP AIR-AP2802I-E-K9 which has the Mobility express image.
I want to convert it to lightweight.
I am trying two different ways to do it but niether works! the problem is the same "invalid name"
Cisco Controller) >config ap unifiedmode 5520New 10.0.0.148
Warning! Sending config unifiedmode to all APs will cause the WLC to be rebooted.
Are you sure you want to continue? (y/n) y
Cisco AP/SWITCH name is invalid.
(Cisco Controller) >config ap ap-type ?
<Cisco AP name> Enter the name of Cisco AP
(Cisco Controller) >config ap ap-type Cisco-AP-WLC ?
<capwap/me> Enter capwap or me to convert the AP to capwap type or me type
(Cisco Controller) >config ap ap-type Cisco-AP-WLC capwap ?
(Cisco Controller) >config ap ap-type Cisco-AP-WLC capwap
Cisco AP name is invalid.
Any ideas!!

You need to reset your AP. Don't adjust ME config. You can use these username and password initial setup.

Hi
Am I wrong or did you use different hostname for this AP ? If you console to the AP, which hostname it has? Or which hostname it shows on the WLC with?

The name i am using is Cisco-AP-WLC, is it the right one to use?
Manufacturer's Name.............................. Cisco Systems Inc.
Product Name..................................... Cisco Controller
Product Version.................................. 8.10.151.0
OUI File Last Update Time........................ N/A
System Name...................................... Cisco-AP-WLC

This AP is the WLC then? I though you had one WLC and from there you were trying to convert one AP.
But what about this command? Why did you use 5520New ?
config ap unifiedmode 5520New 10.0.0.148

Yes, this AP is the ME-WLC.
I used 5520New because it is the name of my 5520 WLC which i would this AP to join after converting it.
From Cisco:
To convert multiple 1800 series access points running Mobility Express image to CAPWAP simultaneously from the Mobility Express controller CLI, execute the following command:
(Cisco Controller) >config ap unifiedmode <switch_name> <switch_ip_address>
<switch_name> and <switch_ip_address> is the name and IP address respectively of the WLC to which the APs need to be migrate.
Am I missing something here?!

No, is not wrong.
Can you run the command ap-type capwap again, reboot the AP and after send the command "show version" ?

Show version command does not exist!
Cisco Controller) >show ver
Incorrect usage. Use the '?' or <TAB> key to list commands.

Hi,
Restart your ap, and you can use 'Cisco' username and 'Cisco' password. You will see privilege mode on just AP, then you can use this command.
AP>enable
password:Cisco
AP>ap-type capwap.

The AP is already configured as WLC and was used as WLC for a long time, but now i need to use it as lightweight
Now, after resetting the AP, the command ap-type capwap, worked fine, but what is the next step. should i download a lightweight image and upload it to the AP?

Just save your config. Now you can use it as lightweight AP. Don't need to upload image.

The Ap does not trying to join the WLC.
When i try to restart CAPWAP I get this:
capwap ap restart
Warning: This CLI resets connection with WLC.

Now it is done, the problem was the switch port which was a trunk
