Dhcp option 43 and assigning static ip to AP

Hi Everyone,

Via WLC  i have configured static ip for the AP.

Do i need to config dhcp option 43 on server now?

As per my understanding if you configure static IP on the ASA then i do not need dhcp option 43 right?

Will client still get the IP address from the server if dhcp option 43 is not configured?

Regards

MAhesh

HI Mahesh,

For clients nothing to do with option 43.

Option 43 is for Access-point to find the controllers.

My only concern is Client PC getting IP from Server do I need option 43 for that on sever?

PCs, by default, do not understand DHCP option 43.

Besides, why would the PCs be in the same VLANs as the APs?

Depends.  DHCP Option 43 is one of the two mechanisms that will enable APs to find the WLC.

I don't understand why anyone wants to disable DHCP Option 43.  If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
