Does anchor wlc in 8.2.170 and foreign wlc in 8.5.182 work fine?

Do I face any incompatibility issue while using anchor wlc in 8.2.170 and foreign wlc in 8.5.182 IOS? Below is the details of framework.

Anchor:

Hardware -Cisco WLC 2500 series

Image- 8.2.170

Foreign:

Hardware- Cisco WLC 8500 series

Image-8.5.182

That's likely going to be a combination nobody has ever tested before so if you want to do that you'll have to test it yourself.

The wise recommendation would be to upgrade both to 8.5.182.12 (link below) so that you can be certain of compatibility.  Obviously you'll need to check that all your APs are still supported on 8.5.182.12 (compatibility matrix link below).

ps: it's useful to be specific about WLC hardware model rather than just stating "Cisco WLC XX00 series" because for example 8500 covers both 8510 and 8540 which are quite different.  8510 can't run anything higher than 8.5 while 8540 runs the latest 8.10.196.0.

@networkdatavoice Keep in mind, using a 2504 as a guest, you need to make sure it can handle the number of users you will be tunneling (client support).  Also, there is a matrix that has the mobility support:

Like what @Rich R mentioned, test.... you can always create a new SSID for testing on both controllers, setup the mobility and then configure the test SSID to anchor to the 2504.  Test and validate it that way.
