AP in flexconnect mode reboots, when it comes back up does it need to communicate with the controller to resume its services ??
I did a small test and enabled, debug capwap events on the controller and did not see any logs from the AP while booting.
so can I conclude if one of my store looses power somehow and when the AP is in flexconnnect mode, will continue to operate fine after coming up and would not need to communicate with the controller atall except authentication for clients which is central in my case.
Thank you.

That is exactly what FlexConnect AP's do. It will go in standalone mode when the connectivity to the WLC goes away and will join the WLC when it has connectivity to the WLC again. Take a look at the FlexConnect guide as it will explain this in detail. If you console into the ap and reboot it, you will see the ap go thought the join process and this is the normal procedure for any lightweight access point. That is what you should look at.

I get that, so just to confirm, a flexconnect AP when reboots, will it look for controller or start serving clients even if connection to controller is down ... we are talking immediately after reboot of flexconnect AP.
Thank you

Yes... It doesn't matter if its a FlexConnect or a local mode AP. Both go through the join process. You can see this if you console into the AP.
