Whether we can configure HA between AIR-CT5508-100-K9 and AIR-CT5508-25-K9. Or we should require this AIR-CT5508-HA-K9 ?

You can configure HA between any 5508 as long as you have one WLC5508 with a minimum of 50 AP licence. If your planning on doing HA, don't use v7.3. Use v7.4, but that requires PI 1.3 which is not out yet and if you have an MSE, well v7.4.x isn't out for that also.

Scott

I have a similar setup - however both my controllers are AIR-CT5508-100-K9 with an extra 100 licenses loaded.
I am going to change my setup in 2 weeks time (downtime slot)
But in short this is what I got from Cisco (keeping in mind that I don't have Prime at this stage)
Controller A: 100 AP base license + 100 AP Adder license Controller B: 100 AP base license + 100 AP Adder license
So in this scenario, yes you can use the above Controllers in an “Active/Standby” node as available with version 7.3. You can then convert the spare to a standby controller using the command line interface or GUI. It is important to note that on the 5508, the controller needs to have at least 50 access point licenses or more in order to be able to convert the controller to the standby controller for the wireless LAN.
This condition is being met in your environment, so Controller B could be used as Standby.
Regarding Licenses:
• Adder Licenses can be rehosted to another controller. However It is not possible to transfer the base licenses (that come installed along with the purchase of the Controller) to the other.
• The following link provides information on how to transfer "Adder" licenses from one Wireless LAN Controllers to another. http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/controller/7.0/configuration/guide/c70ccfg.html#wp1880270
Source: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/wireless/ps6302/ps8322/ps10315/qa_c67-714540.html
• Also please see the section “Both the WLCs have a valid AP Count license” in the deployment guide, that describe how it can be done.

I hope this helps

I have completed my HA
Local State ACTIVE
Peer State STANDBY HOT
Unit Primary
Unit Id
Redundancy State SSO
Its usefull having a consol avalible for your standby unit.
When you see something about "tftp error" on the secondary. - I thought I made a mistake and whipped it and redid the config. Only to get it again.
However - when I rebooted the primary, I could see the logs from the secondary it's "forming" the HA mode.

Martin,
Keep us posted if you run into any issues or not. I'm trying to keep track of issues with HA and N+1 if any.

Will do Scott - Right now the two controllers are right next to each other.
I need to move the second one to our DR site.
Having said that I know about the limitations with the RA port ie directly connected or in a vlan that's not shared.

Yes, a 1242 converted from Autonomous would be supported on the 5508
We have many AP's that were converted that are now working fine on our 5508's;
