Hello,
today I've one subnet with one 1232AG running IOS 12.3(8)JEA and one Apple Airport Extreme. Both are configured as follows :
- Same channel (tested with different channel)
- WEP 40bits. Open authentication for 1232AG
- Hidden network
- Just enough power to have a little overlapping zone
I use one Apple MacBook (Atheros AR5006X chipset). When I'm connected on 1232AG, after restarting my computer, I can roam to AirPort and back again. When I'm connected on AirPort, after restarting my computer again, I can't roam to 1232AG.
To summarize :
0->1232AG->AirPort = works
0->AirPort->1232AG = doesn't work
Any clues ?
Thanks in advance
Pierre

Pierre,
While this isnt the cause of your problem, you will want to move your APs to seperate non-overlapping channels. Such as 1,6, and(or) 11. Having both APs on the same channel
i am curious if you are using the same SSID or not? You may want to try using seperate SSIDs.

Robert,
Yes, indeed I've the same SSID on both APs.
Hereafter a list of different tests made today.
Unsuccessful :
- As suggested, AP with different channel. 1,6 or 1,11
- Network visible
- Forced APs on 802.11b or 802.11g or 802.11b/g
- Many things on radio interface
Successful
- No encryption key
- WPA Personal v1 or v2
As I can't use WPA for the time being, I'm stuck with this.

I would try enabling WDS to use between the two, if that is at all possible. I know that there are instructions available to get the Airport to work with other brands over WDS, but I don't know if Cisco will do that. I am just throwing this out there.

Matthias,
For Apple AirPort WDS is a functionnality (not standard) allowing AP to act as a radio bridge. Seems to be different for Cisco Aironet.
I'll give a try, anyway.
