I am running 12.04 (non IOS OS) and can not find where I would enable or setup WPA. Am I just overlooking this or do I need to install the Cisco IOS on the AP in order to take advantage of WPA?
Thanks!

A bit lengthy to describe here. You have to have IOS. To configure have a look at:

Hello,
i checked this document, and it looks that the decribed command
authentication open network-eap [word]
(under SSID config)
is not supported, even when document recommends that latest Version. From the command list its also not supported.
Do have an explanation for this? Or a solution for the actual version 12.2(15)JA ?

It's "authentication open eap" or "authentication network-eap" but not "authentication open network-eap". The | symbol in the command reference means use one or the other, not both.

Karsten,
You nees to be in the SSID config mode to have that authentication command working.
so, under the dot11 config:
config-if)# ssid test
* creates the ssid and gets you in the ssid mode*
config-if-ssid)#authentication ?
client LEAP client information
key-management key management
network-eap leap method
open open method
shared shared method
Good luck!
