Dears,

I purchased 4G LTE module and I want to use it with Cisco Router 4351. When I Install the module inside the Router and power on the device,

Cisco Router doen not sense the module and no interfaces appears.

is there any difference between ISR G2 and G3 ( EHWIC and NIM ) or just names?

Thanks

do you see it in show inventory ?

Do you have th required ios version 3.15.1 or higher ?

Wireless WAN (3G, 4G, LTE)
NIM-4G-LTE-GA Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes 16.4.1 3.15.1 4G LTE NIM for Global (Europe, Australia & New Zealand)
Data Sheet
NIM-4G-LTE-NA Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes 16.4.1 3.15.1 4G LTE NIM for North America AT&T and Canada
Data Sheet

I didn't see it in show inventory and Router IOS is greater than 3.15.1 also

that sounds as if its DOA it does happen but rarely , did you reseat it yes and still the same , send it back as faulty

Hi Mark,

Fortunately, the issue was solved by upgrade the IOS-XR to latest one.

but when i configure the cellular interface, i can't put the encapsulation option to "slip"

and the interface doesn't take an IP.

but the other router was working normally and acquired IP address.

can you help me which config will work with this router?

Current IOS is: isr4300-universalk9.03.16.04b.S.155-3.S4b-ext.SPA.bin

Current Config is:

 controller Cellular 0/3/0
lte sim data-profile 1 attach-profile 1
lte modem link-recovery rssi onset-threshold -110
lte modem link-recovery monitor-timer 20
lte modem link-recovery wait-timer 10
lte modem link-recovery debounce-count 6

interface Cellular0/3/0
ip address negotiated
dialer in-band
dialer-group 1
pulse-time 1

encapsulation ppp

dialer-list 1 protocol ip permit

Thanks

Hi Taha_Shaker,

Did you ever find a solution? I'm having the same problem (not able to add slip to the module) on a 4431 with a NIM 4G-LTE-GA. Cisco is running isr4400-universalk9.03.16.04b.S.155-3.S4b-ext.SPA.bin

Thanks in advance for your reply.

Dennis

I have the same problem. encapsulation slip and dialer string command not available. Did anyone find the solution?

Same problem here,

no chance encapsulation slip being available.

version 4431:

isr4400-universalk9.03.16.04b.S.155-3.S4b-ext.SPA.bin

NAME: "NIM subslot 0/1", DESCR: "NIM-4G-LTE-GA Module"
PID: NIM-4G-LTE-GA , VID: V01, SN: FXXXXXXXXX

NAME: "Modem 0 on Cellular0/1/0", DESCR: "Sierra Wireless MC7304 4G-GA"
PID: MC7304 4G-GA , VID: 1.0, SN: XXXXXXXX

Any hints?

You don't need encapsulation slip nor dial string. Just make sure that you have a static route to send traffic to the cell interface. LTE establishes connection based on demand. Once you have route to use the Cell interface, use ping to create some traffic to send to the Cell interface. It should establish a connection. good luck.
