Hi,
We are currently using Cisco WLC 7.0.98 and ACS 4.2 and are experiencing an irregular but annoying error.
Once ever month or so the MAC auth will fail and stop sending requests to the ACS for authentication and all clients will be denied.
The temporary fix for this is to turn off MAC auth in the WLAN, apply it, then immediately turn it back on again.
Does anyone know a more long term solution for this issue?
thanks,

Hi,
AFAIK , There is no known issue on the WLC software version that we are using.. Give a try using JMR1(7.0.116) or JRM 0.5 (7.0.98.218), if we are still able to see the issue, then Please feel free to open up a TAC case and we wil help you out if we are observing any kind of deviation!!

You may also want to take a sniffer capture of the WLC port and see if the traffic is there or not.

interestingly I've now found if i either restart the ACS 4.2 service or add/remove mac
filtering on the WLC they both fix the problem...for a time.

yeah, definitely want to do a sniffer capture then. Make sure that each side is sending/receiving the packet. If your loggin is set to Full on the ACS, you should be able to grep through the RDS.log and see it as well.
Cheers,
