I have a user where a newly deployed 5508 and 3602's have been installed. I have one SSID which per the client wants it to have no encryption and have the SSID Hidden. This SSID is to be used for guest access but not called guest. They are trying to connect IPHONES and they are reporting that they can't connect. It appears that all other devices can connect. I do not have the version of software that the IPHONES are using. and to complicate the matter this is a remote site with no real support staff on site.
All other SSID's that are in use are working for those respective devices. (IPHONES are not permitted on those networks)
Any quick suggestions...Thanks Vic

Can you test that with SSID broadcast (instead of hidden) ?

We tested the issue with a visible and hidden SSID and as expected the device was able to connect via a visible SSID but when we hide the SSID and go through the forget routine to see if we can manually add the SSID it fails. The device is running version 8.0 on the phone. and it is only a issue for the Iphones, All other devices appear to connect just fine, with and with out the SSID visible on hidden.

I have 5508 controllers and 3602i deployed in the global enterprise connecting Iphone devices without any issues. The version of iPhone code is updated so I would confirm what version of code you are running on your controller. I have Iphone 8.0 IoT with 7.6.130. Ensure your controller is set to same regulatory code with access points and you see 5Ghz are showing enabled as Iphones have a bias. If you have confirmed other laptops and mobile devices connecting, I am unaware of Apple iPhone specific adjustments required on a controller. I assume you are simply using Layer2 + AES + PSK/ASCII. You may confirm whether the devices are connecting versus not receiving DHCP/DNS and reaching the destination. Regards.

Well then you are going to love this one. The SSID in question has no encryption and all other devices connect fine just the iphones now as for checking the phones for 5 GHz operation I have not had the user look at that since most of the testing has had to rely on non technical people and only remote support via of all things chat only. now when these same devices attempt to connect to a encrypted connection they seen to do fine, but I was informed to day that after finally getting one of the phones to connect on the open SSID it seem to break the ability to connect to the secured SSID. this has turned into a bit of a mess.
The code on the controller has been confirmed to be 7.4.121.0. We would update to a later version but corporate has us locked in.
Thanks...Vic

I am not sure but if this is the case that they are frequently changing to connect with diff SSIDs then I would try to enable Fast-SSID Change on WLC or is this is not the case still i will give a try.
Controller > General > Fast-SSID change, enable it. and try again.

Additional info about the controller we are running 7.4.121.0 and the AP's currently deployed are AIR-CAP3602i's. I also have fast SSID enabled. After some more testing today. it looks as if the problem is isolated to just the Iphones that try to get connected. So a fix for this would be great.
As stated this is a new deployment. Old wireless network at this site was all 1242's in Autonomous mode and the user stated that they had no issues with connectivity of the Iphones
Again any ideas.
Thanks, Vic

I have migrated 1242s in Autonomous mode to 3602s controller based in Flexconnect mode. I would recommend 7.6.130 until the next 8.0 MR release is posted. Ensure the iPhones are indeed patched up as there are recent WiFi updates affecting connectivity in 8.x releases. Do they in fact not connect or are they experiencing lack of push notifications. If the later, User Idle Timeout, Aironet IE and Client user idle timeouts may need tuning. Hope this helps.
