Joining Cisco aironet air-lap1142n-a-k9 to 2504 WLC

Hello,

Please i need help about the following issue:

I upgraded Aironet air-lap1142n-a-k9 from autonomous to lightweight in order to join a 2504 WLC.

The firmware i installed on AP is c1140-k9w8-tar.153-3.JC and on WLC the software system is 8.1.102.0.

The main problem after upgrading that AP couldn't find the controller and keep displaying on CLI :Translating "CISCO-CAPWAP-CONTROLLER"...domain server (255.255.255.255)".

I already joined 5 APs of AIR-CAP702I-E-K9 to the  controller but this one its not working .

Please any help?

The 1140 has a Regulatory Domain of "-A" while the 702 has a Regulatory Domain of "-A".  I would deduce the WLC is configured for "-E".

On the WLC, post the complete output to the command "sh sysinfo".

here the wlc output:

(Cisco Controller) >show sysinfo

As suspected, the 702 has a Regulatory Domain of "-E" which matches the country of Lebanon.  The 1142 has a Regulatory Domain of "-A" and this is incompatible with "-E".

However, I have seen many cases where a "-A" AP can join the controller specified with "-E" but the 802.11a radio of the "-A" AP will be "Admin Down".

On the WLC, can you please post the output to the command "sh time"?

Two options:

1.  Convert the "-A" AP to autonomous; or

2.  Get another controller:  Cisco Mobility Express Bundle

I need the Ap to work under WLC not standalone...

is there any way to turn it round?

is there any way to turn it round?

If this has to work with a controller then look at the Cisco Mobility Express Bundle.  By purchasing two (2) APs, you get a free WLC.

Otherwise, I ain't going to post a solution which will, effectively, break the law in your country.

look the error changed after i corrected the date and time:

Does this network have a valid NTP server.  Please use the NTP server to let the WLC get the correct time and date.

i already configured NTP server on the core Switch.please have a look

Dear,if u have a solution other buying a controller please post it

There is no other solution. Either you need to buy a new AP which works in LB regulatory domain or buy a Cisco Mobility express bundle as mentioned by LEO.

No NTP server and the time and date are incorrect.  This could be another reason why the AP won't join.
