LWAPP and encryption

Some questions about encryption when using a Cisco 2006 WLC and AP1030

- When using WEP, TKIP or AES encryption and LWAPP layer 3 mode, , are the packets always encrypted all the way from the AP to the controller?

- When configuring WPA (TKIP encryption) og WPA2 with AES, we don't input any encryption key to the controller. What is used as encryption key ? I use PEAP and MS-chap with Microsoft IAS for authentication.

- Is the LWAPP protocol just wrapping 802.11 frames in udp packets, or is it adding some level of security or encryption ?

Hello

the LWAPP tunnel containing the singnalling stuff from AP to controller is encrypted, the LWAPP tunnel containing the data is not.

But you really care about packets on your copper cable?.

WPA in enteprise mode: The clients and the ap gets the keys automatically from the radius server.

best regards

Oliver
