paste these info:

From WLC: sh sysinfo

From AP: sh version

From Switch: Switch port config where AP and WLC are connected.

Logs from AP console: Complete bootup process from AP console

Post the complete output to the following commands:
1. WLC: sh sysinfo;
2. WLC: sh time;
3. AP: sh ip interface brief; and
4. AP: sh version

Easiest way is to put the AP on the same subnet as the wlc management. If everything is okay, dhcp, controller code version, time, country code, etc., the AP should join the wlc. Once joined, the AP will know the controller IP address and you can then place the AP in any subnet that has connectivity to the wlc and the AP will join back up.

If your AP doesn’t join when on the same subnet, the info the others requested is valuable to investigate further.

If the AP and WLC are on different subnets you need to tell the AP about the WLC via different methods:

DHCP Option 43

DNS

Static Mappings

The VLAN the AP is on also needs to be allowed to communicate to the WLC so check you don't have any ACLs/ Firewalls in the way that may be blocking it.

Have a look at this blog post for methods the AP uses to join a controller:
