Maximum WLC support on WCS

Hello,

Just a quick question to verify that the maximum number of WLCs a single WCS can support is 50.

What one do if you had 55 individual WLCs in seperate buildings you wanted to manage throughtout a School Division for example?

We are also looking at proposing deploying the FLEX 7500 controller to solve the problem of multiple 5508s.

Thanks for any insight.

Terry

Hardware Requirements for Server

Cisco WCS can be run on a workstation or server, and access points can be distributed unevenly across controllers.

High-end  server—Supports up to 3,000 Cisco Aironet lightweight access points,  1,250 standalone access points, and 750 Cisco wireless LAN controllers.

3.16-GHz Intel Xeon Quad processor.

8-GB RAM.

200 GB minimum free disk space is needed on your hard drive.

I confirm that unless you have H-REAP only on your APs, the 5508/Wism2 and their 500 APs support are the max you can get per WLC.

Cheers,

Nicolas

The new 7500 WLC will do nothing BUT H-REAP.

I believed he is referring to the number of Access Points supported by FLEX 7500 WLCs which is up to 2000 APs compared to that 500 APs of 5508 WLCs.

Just to give some clarification on my original question.

We are looking at the possibility of deploying 55 5508 controllers throughout a school division.

Will a single WCS support that many controllers at the Board Office to manage all these controllers.

Thanks,

Terry
